Hello fellow Huckabee supporters. Since my last post some amazing things have happened on the campaign trail. The governor's stunning upset win in Iowa shocked the republican "elite" and got them scratching their heads. Our candidate has then had two respectable 3rd place finishes in New Hampshire behind McCain and in Michigan behind Romney. Saturday is an important day as we move into South Carolina for the first in the south primary. The Huckabee camp has to be pleased with the progress they have made. It is still incredible that the governor is where he is considering the shoestring budget and endless attackes by our friends competing for the nomination. I am optimistic about our chances in South Carolina but it is a cautious optimism. I firmly believe that we have the best candidate, the best message, and the finest group of supporters. Being from the great state of Georgia, I can identify our neighbors to the north in South Carolina and I believe they'll turn the tide. We cannot possibly claim that God is on our side but we can be confident that our prayers will sustain and streghten Mike Huckabee as he continues the push to the nomination. I am concerned though my fellow republicans but I am not without hope. I am concerned that our friends in the media like Rush, Hannity, Beck, ect. are doing whatever they can to derail our candidate. Mitt Romney has become the choice of whatever is left of the establishment within the party and this is becomming increasingly frustrating to watch as they put out half-truths, non-truths, and un-truths regarding governor Huckabee's record. My friends, I have grown up listening to these good men over the years. However, this blatant bias has left me feeling isolated and asking myself, "where is the republican party?" Rush loves to call Huckabee a liberal but can gloss over Romney's past and explain it away. Governor Romney has certainly displayed a willingness to do whatever it takes to buy the nomination. If he gets it, then we lose this comming November. The only way that Huckabee can win the nomination is by winning South Carolina. If he fails to do that, then he will not be the nominee. We have to win here. It's going to be tough but I believe he'll right the ship and win. I have to believe that, I believed Huckabee could win back when knowbody could pronounce his name.

Finishing strong
This is my first blog post in quite some time. I just saw the situation unfold where governor Huckabee just pulled his negative ad. I think this was an honorable move and win or lose, I think he comes out a better man. I will not be checking any news, reports or updates regarding this magnificent campaign until I tune in on Thursday to see the outcome of the Iowa caucuses. Win or lose, I'm proud to have supported Huckabee's effort and I think his campaign will be studied for years to come. I want to wish everybody a happy new year and good luck governor Huckabee.

Raising expectations.
I have been encouraged in the last couple of days by the actions of the Huckabee campaign. The matching fundraising drive on the Huckabee blog was quite impressive due to generous contributions by many supporters from around the country. Huckabee raised $20,000 at a fundraising event in Heber Springs, Arkansas and that same amount was donated on the campaign website in little over 24 hours. I know many folks who support the governor were disappointed over his fundraising in the 3rd quarter. However, the times, they are a changin'. The new Huckabee store is open for business which might generate a little more interest and revenue for the team. Huckabee has put a help wanted sign outside of the campaign headquarters saying he needs a national fundraising cordinator. We've got the candidate and the message, now all we need is the fuel for the fire. All of the fundraisers that the governor attends from now until the end of december need to be posted on the website so the grassroots effort can have incentive to donate more. My fellow blogger, keep e-mailing friends and family so we can expand the donor base. Some new poll numbers in Iowa show the governor running 3rd at 12%. This is awesome considering the money spent by other candidates. My fundraising idea for this post is the join the effort led by many bloggers to go to Washington D.C for the FRC Ation Washington brefing on October 19th. If Governor Huckabee wins the Straw Poll at this event, he could very well pull in the endorsement of D. James Dobson. This could bring in event a wider pool of donors to the campaign. Lets make this happen! Keep up the good work everybody!

Fueling the fire
I have stood by and watched my candidate get ignored by the media because he hasn't raised millions. Well my fellow bloggers, I have decided to start a series on this blog called "fueling the fire." As often as I can I will try to post creative ways bloggers can raise money for Huckabee's campaign. I will at least try to leave a post once a week. I am not that familiar with campaign finance rules as I would like to be but its easier to ask forgiveness than to bed permission. The Ron Paul people used the internet to raise alot of money and we can too. The governor doesn't think he needs alot of money to win the nomination but lets make a statement with this 4th quarter. I encourage the bloggers, activist, and grassroots people to step it up these next three months. Whether its getting together for a "mini-fundraiser" while watching a debate or having a neighborhood "barbeque for Huckabee", we can make this happen. Distribute flyers, where a brand new Mike Huckabee tee shirt from the campaign store, set up a car wash to raise money, just do what you can and we can collectively make a difference.
3rd Quarter
I have been absent for the past couple of months because school has started again and tests have started to heat up. I have been closely following the campaign and I really believe that Huckabee is on the verge of something. His fundraising numbers of just over $1 million is low but at least it was an improvement over the last quarter. I will blog more regularly now because I feel a sense of urgency regarding this campaign. If we can raise at least $5 million this quarter then Huckabee has a chance. We can do this if we put our hearts and minds into this effort. I believe in the governor and we as citizens can help our nation by throwing our support and our money behind him. We can't undo the mistakes and missed opportunities of the past but we can put our best foot foward. Lets get out their and make it happen.

On the eve of Ames
As I'm writing this post, the ominous clouds of a make or break show down are gathering in the small town of Ames, Iowa. Tomorrow is an important day for Governor Huckabee. In my opinion, Huckabee needs to finish at least second if he has any chance at winning the nomination. A third place finish would keep him in the race but he needs to exceed expectations. He doesn't have the buses, the money, or the organization that some of the other candidates have. He doesn't have the name recognition of Guiliani, or the organizational machine of Romney. Things appear pretty bleak for the former Baptist minister who is trying to establish himself as the real conservative. If Huckabee exits the race tomorrow, it will be because of an under funded campaign with too many opposing candidates. The American people could wake up to a surprise on Sunday morning as they prepare for church or we might see all the talking heads saying we told you so. We in the Huckabee campaign could be disappointed by the Ames outcome like many were when the second quarter numbers came out. The national media have already written Huckabee off and have already declared Romney the winner for tomorrow. However, regardless of all the reasons why Huckabee wont do well, I still have faith in the governor as a candidate. No one has done more with less and has excited the republican base than Huckabee. He has articulated a powerful message of competent government, fairer taxes, and a healthy America better than any of the candidates of either party. I’m hoping and praying he will shock the establishment tomorrow and if he doesn’t, that’s okay. The governor would want us to live our lives and have faith in the American system and believe that this is a great country where people can accomplish great things regardless of who holds the office of the Presidency. I doubt many people will read thins message but I believe in Governor Mike Huckabee’s message. To all of the volunteers, staff, and average everyday American who has worked hard and supported the effort, I’m praying for you guys. Good luck and lets make it happen.

The Straw poll and analysis of Romney.
The fair tax rally could give Huckabee the momentum he needs to win the straw poll. The rally is expected to attract several thousand activist from around the state and no other candidate has been expressing his support for its enactment more than governor Huckabee. Romney has been declared the winner of the contest and none of the ballots have even been cast yet. Romney has several problems. First and foremost is his Mormonism. He has spent millions of dollars, raised an incredible army of volunteers and has hired multiple "religious" consultants. The problem is that the tenets of Mormonism do not line up with those of evangelical Christians. We can debate those tenets all day long but the point is that many Christians reject the Christian classification of Romney's religion. I highly respect the ethics of the Mormon people but governor Romney shouldn't waste his time in trying to convince born again believers that he views Jesus Christ in the same light that they do. The second problem Romney faces are his personal beliefs. Does he believe that roe v. wade should be upheld? He answered yes several years ago in his campaign for a senate seat. He also said yes when he ran for governor back in 2002. Now with the nomination on the line, Romney conveniently changed his mind. Is this a road to Damascus conversion or in the words of Tom Tancredo a road to Des Moines conversion. His third problem is his geographic liability. Huckabee could carry the south. I know because I live in Georgia and I've heard his message. Romney governed Massachusetts for only four years. He won on a fairly liberal platform and with millions at his sides. His campaign is based in Michigan which has not been kind to Republican presidential candidates in recent years. Before he ran for governor of Massachusetts he tested the waters and thought about running for governor of Utah. Organization and money can only get you so far and when you run on the platform of "strong national defense", "I'm the values candidate", or "we're going to run government like a business", this all sound vague to many voters. What do you mean by a strong national defense? Whose values? Explain what you mean governor by business. I think that if we wade through Romney's rhetoric, his waffling on important issues, and GQ magazine appearance, the average republican primary voter will find that Mitt Romney has no business being their nominee.
